Information about Summer Term Exams 2022


Booking for ABRSM music examinations will be opening shortly. Please discuss with your music teacher if you are considering taking an exam this term. There are two exam options for ABRSM: Face to face practical exams and the new performance exams which are recorded. Your teacher will discuss with you which exam you will be working towards. ABRSM Practical Exams: Online booking opens on 4th May 2022 and closes on 16th May 2022. The exam period is 13th June-16th July 2022. We highly recommend booking your exam as soon as booking opens as exam times are much sought after. You can book your exam through the ABRSM portal where you can set up an account with ABRSM. For the practical exam students will have to perform: 3 pieces or songs from the syllabus, Scales and arpeggios for instrumentalists/unaccompanied song for singers Sight-reading/sight-singing/quick study for jazz instruments Aural tests- the ABRSM Aural Trainer app (Grades 1-5 or 6-8) can be downloaded to help prepare for this. ABRSM Performance Exams: Online booking for these exams takes place monthly. We highly recommend booking your exam as soon as booking opens as exam times are much sought after. You can book your exam through the ABRSM portal where you can set up an account with ABRSM. The performance exams are recorded exams and students will play/sing 4 pieces/songs (3 from the syllabus, 1 own choice piece).
